IN EUROPEAN CLUB COMPETITIONS IN RECENT SEASONS

After finishing third in the league last Season 2022/23, Gzira have qualified to participate in the UEFA Europa Conference League 2023/24. This will be Gzira’s third consecutive participation in European Club Competitions, the fifth participation since their first Season 2016/2017 back in the top division of Maltese football and their sixth participation overall, since participating for the first time in Europe in 1973.

Gzira United FC confirmed third place in the BOV Premier League and sealed participation in the UEFA Europa Conference League this Summer after demolishing Zebbug Rangers 4-0 with a second half goal blitz, condemning the latter to Challenge League football next season.

Despite being April Fool’s Day, it was not a joke that Gzira United suffered their third consecutive defeat, this time in a 2-1 loss to Mosta. This defeat cost dearly for Gzira who after being in total command of second place for a number of weeks with a comfortable margin of points over third place, this margin of points has now dwindled away, with the consequence that Gzira United have now been surpassed by Birkirkara in second place.
